Valley Forge, where human endurance under dismal conditions prevailed for six long months. An army, arriving exhausted, injured, and doubtful, survived their difficulties to leave camp as an organized, better-trained force for independence. More than 100 years later, the first monuments were placed to honor the memory of the brave patriots.
